  • Can I bring my service animal into the Tattoo Shop for my appointment?
    No. According to the Virginia Board of Barbers and Cosmetology Tattooing Regulations and Statutes under Section 18 VAC 41-50-390. Physical Facilities. Subsection L. Animals are not permitted in the parlor, salon, or temporary location except for guide or service animals accompanying persons with disabilities, or nonmammalian animals in enclosed glass containers such as fish aquariums, which shall be outside of the tattooing or sterilization areas.   • Can I bring a guest to my appointment?
    Yes! But please make sure of the following: They are healthy and have not recently been sick Limited to 2 guests No guests under 14 years old
  • When can't I get a tattoo?
    We will not tattoo our clients who: are under 18 years old are pregnant or breastfeeding are sick (or recently sick) are under the influence of drugs or alcohol do not have proper identification including Drivers License, Passport, or other government issued photo ID have a sunburn or wound on area being tattooed are taking blood thinners
  • Should I tip my artist?
    Tips are not required, but are customary and always appreciated!
  • How does "Walk In Wednesday" work?
    Every Wednesday (unless announced other wise), from 11 AM - 3 PM, we have artists available just for walk in's! Appointments or consultations are not needed for Walk In Wednesdays, and it is on a first come first serve basis. This is perfect for small tattoos or our ready made "Flash" designs. This is NOT for large designs that take more than an hour. $80-$150
  • What is the shop minimum?
    The shop minimum for tattoos is $80
  • How do I pay my artist?
    You can pay by credit/debit card, but cash is generally preferred!
  • What is the age requirement?
    You must be 18+ to be tattooed at Under the Sun Tattoo. We do not tattoo minors.
  • When can I see my custom design?
    Because of our busy schedules, our artists typically start designing your tattoo a week before your tattoo appointment. The artist that you are working with will most likely send you a sneak peak of your design a few days before your appointment when confirming that you will be making it to your appointment.

  • How do I schedule a tattoo appointment?
    Each artist has different schedules, please check the artist page to see how to get on their books. If you are not sure which artist you would like to work with, fill out our Tattoo Request Form or send us an email at and we will help you get on one of our artist's schedules.
  • What happens if I am late or miss my appointment?
    Your deposit will be forfeited if you do not call or do not show up for your appointment. Deposits may also be lost if you are late. If you need to reschedule an appointment for any reason, please let us know at least 72 hours in advance. If something comes up last minute, please contact us as soon as you can.
